Basic English Lesson for Beginners

Hello and welcome to today’s English learning podcast!

In the next few minutes, we’ll explore some simple but very useful phrases for beginners.

Let’s start with greetings.

- When you meet someone, you can say: “Hello” or “Hi.”

- In the morning, you can say: “Good morning.”

- In the afternoon: “Good afternoon.”

- And in the evening: “Good evening.”

Now, let’s practice introductions.

If you want to tell someone your name, you say: “My name is…” For example: “My name is Anna.”

If you want to ask someone’s name, you say: “What is your name?”

A common answer is: “I am John.” or “I’m John.”

Next, let’s look at polite expressions.

- “Please” — we use this when asking for something politely.

- “Thank you” — we use this to show gratitude.

- “You’re welcome” — we say this when someone thanks us.

- “Excuse me” — we use this to get someone’s attention or to be polite in public.

Finally, let’s practice a short dialogue:

- A: “Hello! Good morning.”

- B: “Good morning! How are you?”

- A: “I’m fine, thank you. And you?”

- B: “I’m good. My name is Sarah. What is your name?”

- A: “I’m David. Nice to meet you.”

- B: “Nice to meet you too.”

That’s it for today’s lesson!

We learned greetings, introductions, and polite expressions — the foundation of everyday English conversation.

Remember: practice these phrases every day. The more you use them, the more natural they will feel.

Thank you for reading, and see you next time!
